Sample size is how many items you use to test something. For example, if you were testing how tasty a certain kind of candy was, your sample size could be how many people you give the candy to. If you give the candy to 3 people and they all like it, your sample size was 3. But if you want to get a more accurate result of how most people think, you need a bigger sample size - more people to try the candy. The more people you have, the better idea you will have of how well most people think the candy is.
