Sandhai Muslims

Have you heard of the word "sandhai"? It means "marketplace" in a language called Tamil. In Tamil Nadu, a state in India, there is a community of Muslims called the Sandhai Muslims.

These Muslims are also known as "labour Muslims" because they traditionally worked as merchants and traders in the markets. They sell all kinds of things like clothes, groceries, and other household items.

The Sandhai Muslims have a strong connection to their Tamil roots and are proud of their South Indian heritage. They speak a language called Tamil, which is different from the language spoken by most Muslims in India.

One of the most interesting things about Sandhai Muslims is that they have their own unique style of dress. They wear a traditional outfit called a "lungi" that is made out of a single piece of cloth wrapped around their waist.

A lot of Sandhai Muslims also practice a form of Islamic mysticism called "Sufism." This is a spiritual practice that involves seeking a deeper connection with God through things like music, meditation, and poetry.

Overall, Sandhai Muslims are an important part of the diverse Muslim community in India. They have their own unique culture, language, and traditions that make them special.
