Sasanian defense lines

The Sasanian Empire was a big kingdom located in the region which we now call Iran. The people who lived there a long time ago were called Sasanians. They wanted to protect their empire from their enemies who were always trying to attack them.

So, the Sasanians built defense lines which were like big walls or palisades made of stones, bricks, and mud. These walls were meant to protect the empire from its enemies.

Think of a big castle with walls around it, just like the ones you might see in fairy tales. The Sasanian Empire had these walls too, and they were so strong that it was very difficult for the attackers to breach them.

The defense lines stretched across hundreds of miles and were spread all over the empire. This means that if an enemy tried to attack one part of the empire, it would have to face the defense walls of other parts as well.

The defense lines also had towers and forts built all over them. These were watchtowers where soldiers would keep an eye on the surrounding areas, and if they saw an enemy coming, they would alert their army to prepare for battle.

So, the Sasanian defense lines were like a big, strong fence that the Sasanians built to protect their kingdom from enemies. And just like a strong fence that keeps out stray animals, these walls kept out the enemy armies who wanted to invade their land.
