ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Satellite knot

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a picture of Earth from space? Satellites are these cool machines that orbit the Earth and take pictures or do other important things like helping us use phones and GPS.

Now, a knot is when you tie something like your shoelaces. A satellite knot is like when the orbit of a satellite gets twisted up and looks like a knot.

Imagine you have a long rope and you tie it into a knot. Now imagine the rope is a satellite's orbit and the knot is the point where the orbit crosses over itself. This happens sometimes and it can be tricky for the engineers who control the satellite to fix it.

But don't worry, they have some really smart people who can figure it out and make the satellite go back to its normal orbit. Because satellites are important for lots of things we use every day, like watching TV and using our phones.
