ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Satipatthana Sutta

The Satipatthana Sutta is a Buddhist text that teaches us about the importance of mindful living. It gives us four different guidelines for living a mindful life. The first guideline is to be aware of our body and not just our thoughts. This means paying attention to how our body feels, how it is moving and how it is reacting in different situations. The second guideline is to be aware of our feelings and emotions. This means tuning into how we are feeling and understanding how this affects our thoughts and how we act. The third guideline is to be aware of our thoughts and recognize when we are having unhelpful thoughts. We can then use meditation and mindfulness to become more aware of what is happening in our minds. The fourth guideline is to be aware of the world around us. We can do this by noticing the different things in our environment and how they affect us. Learning and following the Satipatthana Sutta can help us live a more mindful and meaningful life.
