Sausage roll

A sausage roll is a yummy snack made from a long, thin strip of meat that's been wrapped up in a layer of pastry dough. Imagine a big hot dog, but instead of being on a bun, it's tucked inside a fluffy blanket made of pie crust! It's a great finger food you can hold in your hand and munch on.

First, someone takes minced meat, which usually means ground up pork, beef, or a mix of both, and blends it with tasty seasonings like salt, pepper, spices, and sometimes even onions or garlic. They mix it all up until it makes a big meaty lump.

Then, they take a sheet of pastry dough, which is like a layer of thin, buttery crust, and roll out a long, rectangular piece of it. They put the meat on top of this pastry sheet and wrap it up tight like a burrito so the meat is all snuggled up inside the doughy blanket.

Finally, they chop the big rolled-up pastry into smaller pieces, usually about the size of a small hot dog, and bake them in the oven until the pastry turns golden brown and the meat inside is hot and cooked through.

And that's how a sausage roll is made! They're perfect for snacking on the go or as a party food to share with friends.
