Scientific glassblowing

Scientific glassblowing is sort of like playing with really hot sand to make special tools for scientists to use in their experiments.

First, the glassblower takes a long tube called a blowpipe and dips it into a big container of molten glass.

Next, they blow air into the tube like a balloon and start shaping the glass with special tools. They might use a torch to heat up different parts of the glass to make it easier to bend and shape.

Scientists use these special glass tools to do all sorts of cool things like measuring liquids, mixing chemicals, and holding tiny samples for study.

The glassblower has to be very careful and precise when making these tools so that they work just right for the scientists. It takes a lot of practice and skill to do scientific glassblowing!
