ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Scoop wheel

A scoop wheel is like a big spoon that is used to move water from one place to another. Imagine you're at the beach and you want to build a sandcastle next to the water. You could use a bucket to carry water from the ocean to where you want to build your castle, but that would take a long time and be a lot of work.

Instead, you can use a scoop wheel! It's a big wheel with scoops attached all around it. The wheel moves around in a circle, dipping into the water and scooping up water as it turns. When it comes back up again, it dumps the water into a trough or canal that carries the water to where it's needed.

Scoop wheels are often used on farms to water crops. They are powered by either animals or engines, and they can move a lot of water quickly and efficiently. So, basically, a scoop wheel is a big spoon on a wheel that moves water from one place to another!
