ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sea snail

A sea snail is a type of animal that lives in the ocean. It's like a little slimy creature with a hard, spiral-shaped shell that it carries on its back. Imagine a round, pointy ice cream cone that grows on the back of a slimy, wriggly creature.

Sea snails move by sliding their slimy bodies on a special foot, kind of like how we walk with our feet. They eat mainly algae and small plants that they scrape off rocks or other surfaces, using a raspy tongue called a radula.

The shells of sea snails are often very pretty and come in lots of different shapes and colors. They use their shells to protect themselves from other animals that might want to eat them. Sometimes, humans collect these shells and keep them as souvenirs.

Sea snails live in all kinds of oceans around the world and are an important part of the ocean ecosystem.
