Sea-level curve

Okay kiddo, imagine you're at the beach and standing right where the water meets the sand. That's sea-level.

But did you know that sea-levels can change over time? Sometimes they get higher and sometimes they get lower. This happens because of different things, like when ice melts and adds more water to the ocean or when the Earth's temperature changes and affects how much water evaporates and goes into the atmosphere.

Scientists study how sea-levels have changed over a really long time, like thousands of years. They do this by looking at different things, like how far back the water has gone in rocks or by measuring how deep the water is in certain places.

When they have all this information, they can make something called a sea-level curve. It's like a graph that shows how sea-levels have changed over a long time.

This is important because it helps us understand how the Earth has changed in the past and how it might change in the future. It also helps us see how different things, like climate change or natural disasters, affect the ocean and the creatures that live in it.
