Section 508 Amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

Do you know that some people cannot see or hear well, or cannot use their hands to operate a computer? The government says that it is important to make sure that these people can still use computer programs and websites, just like everyone else. So, they made a set of rules, called the Section 508 Amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, that tells computer programmers and website designers how to make their programs and websites work for everyone, regardless of their abilities. So, even if someone cannot see, hear, or use their hands, they should still be able to use a computer to access important information and do important things.
