ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Segre embedding

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a bunch of toys like blocks and balls. You want to put them all in a big box, but you want to organize them so that all the blocks are together and all the balls are together.

Segre embedding is kind of like that. Imagine you have a bunch of points in space, like X,Y and Z coordinates. You want to organize them so that all the points with the same values of X are together, all the points with the same values of Y are together, and all the points with the same values of Z are together.

To do this, we use a special kind of math called algebraic geometry. It's kind of like a big map that helps us keep track of all the different points in space.

Segre embedding is a way of taking all of our points and putting them on this map in a really organized way. We create a big grid with all the different X, Y, and Z values along the different axes. Then, we plot each point in the grid based on its X, Y, and Z values.

This creates a really cool picture that helps us see all the different points in space and how they're organized based on their X, Y, and Z values. Plus, it's a really useful tool for studying different kinds of math problems.

So there you have it, kiddo! Segre embedding is like organizing your toys in a box, except instead of toys it's points in space and instead of a box it's a big grid. Pretty cool, huh?
