Self-domestication

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen how dogs look different from their wild ancestors, wolves? That's because humans have been breeding and taking care of dogs for thousands of years. They did this because they wanted dogs to be friendly and helpful to humans. This is what we call domestication.

Now imagine that humans did the same thing to themselves. That's what we call self-domestication. It means that humans have become more cooperative and friendly towards each other over time. This has allowed us to work together and build things like cities, medicine, and technology.

The idea of self-domestication is still being studied by scientists, but some people think that it happened because of the way we evolved. Humans who were good at getting along with others were more successful in the long run. They were healthier, had more children, and were able to pass on their friendly genes to their offspring.

So, self-domestication is like humans becoming friendlier to each other over time, just like how we made dogs friendlier. And this friendliness has allowed us to do amazing things together!
