Self-reconfiguring modular robot

A self-reconfiguring modular robot is like a toy that can build itself into different shapes. It has lots of small pieces that all fit together like a puzzle. The pieces can move and separate, then come back together to form something new. For example, a self-reconfiguring modular robot might start off as a single line, then move around and form a square, then move around again and form a cube. It's like it can think for itself and can figure out how to change its shape.
