Semi-submersible platform

A semi-submersible platform is a big, floating platform that is half underwater and half above water. This means that it is able to float on the water while parts of it are also below the surface.

Think of it like a big bathtub toy that you use in the pool. It has a big bottom part that floats and sits on the water, and then there are some smaller parts that stick up above the water.

The reason a semi-submersible platform is designed this way is to make it more stable in rough seas. When waves hit the platform, the half submerged part helps to keep it steady and prevent it from being tossed around too much.

These platforms are commonly used for offshore drilling and oil production because they can stay in one spot for long periods of time without being affected by strong currents or winds. They also have the ability to move around to different locations when needed.

So, in short, a semi-submersible platform is a big floating structure with parts both above and below the water that is designed to stay sturdy in rough seas and is used for offshore drilling and oil production.
