Semiconductor laser theory

Semiconductor lasers are devices that use electricity to create laser light. This light is very special because it is made up of particles called photons.

The photons are created when electricity passes through a special material called a semiconductor. This material is made up of tiny crystals which move electricity in a way that makes them release the photons.

The semiconductor acts like the mirror in a traditional laser. It reflects the photons back and forth, and this causes the particles to move in one direction. As the photons bounce off the semiconductor material, they move faster and faster, and eventually they combine to become a beam of laser light.

The laser light is then emitted through a hole at one end of the semiconductor, and this is what we call a semiconductor laser.
