ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Semigraphics

Semigraphics are like pictures made out of tiny dots. Imagine taking a big piece of paper and dividing it into a bunch of little squares. Each square is called a pixel. Pictures and drawings made out of semigraphics only use a few colors and shades, like dots in black and white or green and black. You can use semigraphics to make pictures with your computer, but they won't look as nice as real pictures with lots of colors. It's like making a drawing with a very limited set of crayons instead of using all the colors in a big box. Semigraphics were popular a long time ago when computers couldn't show as many colors or use as much memory as they can now, but some people still like to use them for special effects or a retro look.
