ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sensory memory

Sensory memory is like a special kind of super-fast camera that your brain has. It stores a snapshot of the things you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel for just a tiny fraction of a second. It helps you remember things quickly, and it helps you compare things. For example, if you hear a really loud noise, your sensory memory might help you remember what it sounded like or how loud it was.
