Sequoia sempervirens

Sequoia sempervirens is a very, very big tree that lives in some places in the world. It has a really thick and strong trunk, like a big straw, that can go up really, really high into the sky. Its leaves are very small and look like little green hairs that stick out from the branches.

These trees are called "redwoods" and they are special because they grow really, really tall and live for a really, really long time, even longer than some people! They need a lot of water and sunlight to grow big and strong, and they like to live near other redwoods to keep each other company.
