ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Serial (literature)

Serial literature is like a really long story that gets told in small pieces over time. It’s like hearing one chapter of a book every week instead of getting to read the whole book all at once.

Imagine you have a big toy puzzle that has a hundred pieces. Instead of putting all the pieces together at once, you can only add one new piece every day. It may take a long time to finish the puzzle, but every day you get excited to see what the new piece looks like and how it fits with the other pieces.

That’s what it’s like reading a serial! You might have to wait a while to see what happens next in the story, but it can be exciting to think about what might happen and to see how the story slowly comes together.
