ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sexuality and gender identity-based cultures

Well kiddo, some people feel like they aren't the gender they were born as. Some people are boys but feel like they should be a girl, and some girls feel like they should be a boy. We call this "gender identity".

And some people are attracted to people of the opposite gender, some are attracted to people of the same gender, and some are attracted to all genders. We call this "sexuality".

When people with similar gender identities or sexualities come together, they form a community. And that community has its own culture, traditions, and ways of doing things.

So just like how some people might really love art or sports and find people who love it too so they can do it together, people who identify similarly in terms of their gender or sexuality do the same thing. They find each other, create communities, and build their own unique cultures.

It's important to respect all people's gender identities and sexualities, because everyone deserves to feel accepted and loved for who they are.
