Shade is the dark area that happens when something blocks the sun or a light. Think about when you put your hand in front of a flashlight, and you can see your hand’s shadow on the wall. That shadow is a shade. It's like a little dark shape that happens because your hand is blocking the light. When we go outside on a hot day and we stay under a tree or an umbrella to avoid the sun's heat, we are also in the shade. The shade is a cooler area because we are not getting the direct heat from the sun. So, shade is what we call the dark area created by something blocking the light or the place where there is less heat because something is covering us.
