Shaggy defense

Shaggy defense is a legal defense in which someone being charged with a crime says they were somewhere else when the crime was committed, and they have no evidence to support it. The name comes from the cartoon character Shaggy, who was always saying, "Zoinks! I'm innocent!" It is not a very effective defense, as a judge or jury is unlikely to believe that someone can be somewhere without any type of proof or documentation to back it up.
