Twinkie defense

Okay kiddo, so there was this man named Dan White who killed two people in San Francisco a long time ago. He was put on trial and his lawyers told the jury that he ate a lot of junk food, including Twinkies, which made him feel really bad and confused. They said this junk food made him do the bad thing he did. This is called the Twinkie Defense.

Now, most people don't think that eating junk food can make someone do something very bad, because it's not a very good excuse. But the jury believed it a little bit, and Dan White was only sent to jail for a short time. So a lot of people were really upset about this, because they thought that Dan White should have been punished more for what he did, regardless of what he ate.

In the end, the Twinkie Defense didn't really work out for anyone. People still talk about it today because it was a really unusual defense strategy in a criminal trial, and it showed that sometimes people will try anything to avoid getting punished for something they did wrong.
