Hey kiddo! Today we’re going to talk about Shinto sects and schools. Do you know what Shinto is? It’s a religion that started in Japan. Shinto is all about nature and it teaches that everything in nature has a spirit or a soul. People who practice Shinto believe they can communicate with these spirits through certain rituals and traditions.
Now, Shinto has lots of different groups or “sects”. Just like how different kids in your class might have different favourite colours or toys, different Shinto sects have different beliefs and ways of worshiping.
Some of the most well-known Shinto sects include Izumo Taisha, Jinja Honcho, and Kurozumi-kyo. Each of these groups has their own way of doing things – they might have different festivals they celebrate, or they might believe in different spirits.
There are also Shinto “schools”, which are like different branches of the same tree. These schools study and interpret the teachings of Shinto in their own unique way. Sometimes these schools focus on different aspects of Shinto, like how to harmonize with nature or how to cultivate a peaceful mind.
Overall, there’s a lot of variety in Shinto practice! Just like how different people have their own way of doing things, different Shinto groups and schools have their own beliefs and traditions.
