Shotgun (shooting sports)

Okay, imagine you have a special toy gun that can shoot lots of tiny balls at the same time, like a super powerful water gun. That's called a shotgun! People use it to play a sport called shooting where they try to hit special targets called clay pigeons in the air.

The shotgun is a little different from other guns because it has a long, narrow barrel that helps the tiny balls go straight and far. The shooter has to hold the gun tight against their shoulder and take aim at the clay pigeon as it flies through the air. Then they pull the trigger and the gun shoots out lots of tiny balls. If they're lucky, some of them hit the clay pigeon and break it into pieces!

When people play shotgun shooting sports, they usually compete against other people to see who can hit the most clay pigeons. It takes a lot of practice and skill to be good at it, but it can be a lot of fun to try!
