Shrew's fiddle

Shrew's fiddle is a punishment device that was used a long time ago. It looks like a really big violin or guitar that is made out of wood. On one end, there is a hole where someone's neck can go through, and on the other end, there are two smaller holes where their hands can go through.

When someone did something wrong, they were put in the shrew's fiddle as a punishment. Their neck went through the big hole, and their hands went through the smaller holes. Then, the device was locked, and the person couldn't move their hands or head.

It was a really uncomfortable and scary experience for the person in the shrew's fiddle because they couldn't move at all. They also had to stand up the whole time, which would have been really tiring.

Today, we don't use shrew's fiddles anymore because it's not a fair or humane way to punish people. We have other ways to help people learn from their mistakes and make things right.
