Siege of Jerusalem (37 BC)

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago in 37 BC, there was a big battle over a city called Jerusalem. Jerusalem was a very important city to different groups of people, and everyone wanted control over it.

Now, there was a man named King Herod who ruled over Jerusalem, and he was in charge of protecting the city. But there were some people who wanted to take over the city and they didn't like King Herod very much.

So, they decided to attack Jerusalem and get rid of King Herod. The attacking army was led by a man named Antigonus, and he had a big group of soldiers with him.

When the attacking army arrived, they surrounded the city and started to attack. King Herod and his soldiers defended the city as best they could, but it was really hard. There were a lot of soldiers and they had some big weapons.

The siege went on for a long time, with the attacking army trying different ways to get into the city. But King Herod and his soldiers were really determined and they kept fighting back.

Finally, the attacking army came up with a plan. They decided to build a big ramp that would allow them to climb over the walls of the city. They worked really hard and built the ramp up to the walls of Jerusalem.

When the ramp was finished, the attacking army climbed up and over the walls of the city. It was really scary for the people inside Jerusalem because they knew that if the attacking army got in, they would be in big trouble.

But King Herod and his soldiers didn't give up. They fought even harder and managed to push the attacking army back. The battle went on for a while longer, but eventually, King Herod's soldiers were able to defeat the attacking army and save the city.

After the siege was over, King Herod became even more powerful and he ruled over Jerusalem for many years. So, even though it was a really scary time, everything turned out okay in the end.
