ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Signal programming

Signal programming is like giving a radio instructions. When you give instructions to a radio, you don't just say "Make a noise". You send a signal with instructions on it. In signal programming, the instructions are sent using electrical signals, instead of voice. The instructions are coded inside the signal, which tells a device what to do. This code or "signal" can be sent over wires, through air, or through space. It usually requires special equipment, like a computer, to interpret the signal and understand the instructions inside.
