Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) is a way for computers to securely get or renew certificates (like driver's license or passport). It works by creating a secure connection between your computer and a website called a Certificate Authority (CA). Your computer sends a request for a new certificate to the CA. The CA checks that you're allowed to get a certificate and then sends you a new certificate. Your computer stores the new certificate and uses it for tasks like encrypting data or proving that you are who you say you are.
