ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Simultaneous multithreading

Simultaneous multithreading (also known as SMT) is a type of technology that helps a computer run faster. It works by having a single processor (the "core") that can do two things at the same time - like if you had two arms and you could move them both at the same time. The processor is like a digital person who can do things like calculate numbers or draw pictures super quickly, and with SMT, it can do more than one thing at the same time! This can help a computer run faster because it can make more use of the resources it has and accomplish things faster.
