Sino-Roman relations were the contacts between the people of the two countries of China and Rome. These contacts were mostly through trade and cultural exchange. China was known to Rome as Serica, and from around the 1st century BC to the 7th century AD, there was a lot of trading between both countries. Rome exported things like glass, olive oil and wine to China, while China traded silk and other items. Roman coins have been found with Chinese writing on them, which shows us that people in ancient times were already travelling and trading with each other!
