ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sixty Years' War

Okay, imagine you are playing with your friend and you both want the same toy. But instead of sharing, you each decide to grab onto it and not let go. That's kind of what happened in the Sixty Years' War.

Basically, a long time ago, there were two countries called France and England. They both wanted to be in charge of certain land called Gascony, which was in France but owned by England. This made both countries very mad at each other.

So, they started fighting. And they didn't stop for a very long time - for sixty whole years! Can you imagine fighting with your friend for that long? It's crazy, right?

The fighting was really intense and lots of people got hurt or died. It was a very sad and scary time for everyone involved. But eventually, the two countries made peace and the war came to an end.

Even though it's been a really long time since the Sixty Years' War happened, people still learn about it and it is an important part of history. It teaches us that sometimes we need to find ways to work things out without resorting to violence.
