ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Skin disease

Skin disease is when the skin is not feeling or looking very nice. Sometimes people get red or itchy bumps on their skin or their skin might be really dry or flaky. This is because something has happened to the skin that makes it different than usual.

There are lots of different skin diseases, and they can happen to people of all ages. Some skin diseases are caused by things like allergies, germs, or even genetics (which means they were born with it).

People with skin diseases might feel uncomfortable or self-conscious because they don't want other people to see their skin. They might go to the doctor to get medicine or treatments that can help their skin feel and look better. It's important to take care of your skin by keeping it clean and using lotion to keep it healthy.
