Slavery in Canada happened a very long time ago. People who were enslaved were people of colour who had been taken from other countries by force. They were then put to work without pay and were treated like property, like things that belonged to their owners. This was wrong, and it was not allowed anymore. These days, no one in Canada can own slaves, it is against the law.
