ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Slurry wall

A slurry wall is like a big wall made of mud that is used to keep water or dirt from getting where it's not supposed to be. Imagine you have a sandcastle and you don't want the water from the ocean to come in and knock it down. So, you take some mud and pile it up all around the sides of the sandcastle, making a wall.

Now imagine that instead of a sandcastle, you have a big building that you're trying to build, but there's water or dirt underneath where you want to build it. You don't want the water or dirt to come in and ruin the building, so you use a slurry wall.

First, you dig a big hole where the building is going to be. Then, you put a long pipe down into the hole and start pumping in a special kind of mud called slurry. This slurry is made up of water, dirt, and a special powder that makes it thick and gooey, almost like pudding.

As you pump in the slurry, it fills up the space between the wall of the hole and the pipe, creating a wall of mud. This mud wall is so strong and thick that it can hold up the dirt and water outside of it, just like the mud wall around the sandcastle.

Once the mud has made a complete circle around the hole, you can start building your building inside of it. The slurry wall keeps the water and dirt from coming in and causing any damage to the building.

So, a slurry wall is basically like a big mud wall that helps keep water and dirt out of an area where you don't want it. It's really strong and helps keep buildings safe and sturdy.
