Snow gauge

Hey there kiddo! Have you ever seen snow before? It's so pretty and white, isn't it? Sometimes we get a lot of snow in one day and other times just a little bit. But how can we measure how much snow we got?

Well, that's where a snow gauge comes in! A snow gauge is simply a tool that helps us measure how much snow has fallen in a certain area. It looks like a ruler or a stick that is stuck into the ground outside when it starts snowing.

As the snow falls, it builds up on the ground and on top of the snow gauge too. When the snow has stopped falling and is all settled, we can look at the gauge to see how deep the snow is. The gauge is marked with lines that tell us how many inches or centimeters of snow have fallen.

Pretty cool, right? Now we can keep track of how much snow there is and compare it to other days when it snowed. This helps us understand the weather patterns better and gives us important information when it comes to things like driving on snowy roads or predicting if we might get a snow day from school.

So, next time it snows, be sure to look for a snow gauge and see how much snow has fallen!
