ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Social representations

Social representations are ideas or beliefs that people in a society share with each other. They help people make sense of the world around them by providing a shared understanding and interpretation. For example, if everyone in your neighborhood thinks that it's rude to talk on the phone in public, then that's a social representation - it's something that everyone agrees on and understands. Social representations provide a way for people to make sense of the world in a way that works for the whole society.
