ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Society of Mind

Imagine your brain as a big group of little workers always working together to help you think, feel, and act. This is called the Society of Mind.

Just like how people work together in a community, everyone in your brain has their own job to do. Some little workers are responsible for helping you feel happy or sad, while others help you remember your favorite ice cream flavor or solve a tough math problem.

All the little workers in your brain communicate with each other so they can help you make decisions and understand the world around you. Imagine each worker as a little telephone line that can call other workers in your brain when it needs help.

Sometimes, different workers in your brain may not agree on what to do. Just like when people don't always see eye to eye, your brain may have to take time to figure out the best course of action.

So always remember, your brain is a Society of Mind and all the little workers are working hard behind the scenes to help you navigate through life.
