A solar calendar is like a really big and fancy calendar that tells us when each day, month, and year happens based on the position of the sun in the sky. Basically, it helps us keep track of time using the sun.
So, just like we have 365 days in a year because that's how long it takes for the Earth to go all the way around the sun, the solar calendar also has 365 days (sometimes 366 days in a leap year).
The solar calendar helps people in different parts of the world know when to celebrate special events or holidays. For example, Christmas is always on December 25th because the solar calendar tells us that's when the Earth is in a certain spot in its orbit around the sun.
Without a solar calendar, it would be really hard to know when to do things like plant crops, go on vacations, or even just know what day it is! But luckily, we have this big and fancy calendar to help us out.
