Space elevator

A space elevator is an imaginary machine or structure that could be used to lift people and things like satellites into space. It's a bit like an elevator in a building, except it is much bigger and instead of going up and down, it goes up into the sky and beyond! The elevator would be attached to a platform on the ground, and it would use strong cables made of special materials like carbon nanotubes to stretch into space, reaching all the way to a station somewhere in orbit, like the International Space Station. The elevator could then scoop people and things up and take them quickly and safely up into space.
