Spacetime symmetries

Spacetime symmetries are how the universe can look the same from different places and different times. If a spaceship travels to the other side of the universe and looks back, the universe looks the same as it did where the spaceship started out. That's because of the spacetime symmetries. It's like the universe is like a checker board and no matter which square you look at, the pattern of the checkers will always be the same.
