Spanish missions in New Mexico

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, some Spanish people came to a place called New Mexico. They built places called "Missions" which were like really special churches.

These Missions were built to teach the Native American people about Christianity, which is a religion that the Spanish people follow.

The Spanish people wanted to make friends with the Native American people and teach them new things like how to farm and how to make things like pottery. They wanted the Native American people to be more like them.

But not everyone was happy about this. Sometimes there were fights between the Spanish people and the Native American people.

Today, we can still visit the Missions that the Spanish people built. They are very special and important to the people who live in New Mexico.
