ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Speed reading

Speed reading is a way to read a lot faster than normal. Normally, when we read, our eyes move slow and we read a few words at a time- usually one line at a time. When we speed read, we move our eyes faster and take in whole chunks of words at once. That way, we can learn the same amount of information but in less time. To do this, people use a few different tricks, like not moving their eyes each time they finish a line, and using their finger to point at each word so they can read faster with their eyes.
