ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

SpeedStep

Okay, so SpeedStep is a special feature that some computers have. It helps the computer to use less power when it doesn't need to do very hard work, like when you're just reading a book on your computer or typing a letter. This is a good thing, because it means that your computer doesn't use up all of its battery power too quickly.

But, when you want to do something harder like playing a video game, your computer needs more power to do all the things that it has to do quickly. SpeedStep helps your computer to switch to a higher level of power when you need it to, so that you can play your games smoothly and without any problems.

It's kind of like how a car can go really fast on the highway but when it gets to a traffic jam, it has to go slower. The car knows when to go faster or slower, just like your computer knows when to use more power or less power. And that's what SpeedStep does!
