Sperm is what makes babies when it gets together with an egg inside a mommy's body. Some mommies and daddies can't make babies on their own, so they might ask a man to give them their sperm. This is called sperm donation.
Sperm donors go to a special place called a sperm bank. They go there and give a sample of their sperm. The sperm bank puts the sperm in little containers and freezes it. This is called cryopreservation.
Later, if a mommy and daddy need some sperm, they go to the sperm bank and pick out some sperm from the donor they like. The sperm bank thaws out the sperm and puts it into the mommy's body where the egg is. The sperm finds the egg and together they make a baby.
It's important to understand that the sperm donor doesn't become the baby's daddy. The baby will still have a mommy and a daddy who love them very much. The donor helped the mommy and daddy make the baby, but he doesn't have any responsibilities or rights to the baby.
