Sphere of influence

Sphere of influence is a way of saying how much power and control someone or something has over another person or thing. Think of it like an invisible bubble that surrounds a person. Anything or anyone inside this bubble can be affected by the person in the center. For example, maybe your mom has a big sphere of influence because if she says something you have to listen. That means everything within that bubble has to follow her rules.
