Spherical shell

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a big ball, like a soccer ball. Now, let's imagine we take the ball and we cut it in half. If we were to look at the cut side of the ball, we would see a circle. This circle is called the "equator".

Now, let's imagine we take the two halves of the ball and move them apart from each other. We now have two soccer ball halves, right? Well, what if we kept moving them apart from each other until there was a space between them, but they were still in the shape of a ball? This is what we call a "spherical shell".

A spherical shell is basically a hollow ball, with nothing inside of it. It looks like a solid ball, except you can see through it and there's nothing inside. It's like if you had a big soap bubble, except it's made of something much stronger.

People use spherical shells for lots of things, like in science experiments or in architecture. They're also really interesting to look at because you can see through them and they have a cool shape. Pretty neat, right?
