Spring scale

A spring scale is a little tool that helps you measure how heavy something is. You can use it to measure things like apples or oranges or even toys!

The scale has a little hook or loop on the bottom where you can hang the thing you want to measure. When you hang the thing on the hook, something called a spring inside the scale gets a little bit stretched out.

The amount that the spring stretches out tells you how heavy the thing is. There are little numbers on the scale that help you figure out how much the thing weighs. So if the spring stretches out a lot, you know that the thing is very heavy. If it only stretches out a little bit, you know it's not very heavy.

It's important to use a spring scale when you're trying to weigh something very accurately, like if you're baking a cake and need to make sure you have the right amount of flour. But remember, always have an adult with you when using the scale!
