Stadiametric rangefinding

Stadiametric rangefinding is like using your fingers to guess how far something is. Imagine you are looking at a big tree far away and you want to know how far it is. You can use stadiametric rangefinding to do this without having to walk all the way over to the tree.

Here's how it works: you hold your hand out at arm's length and close one eye. With your other eye, you look at the tree and figure out how big it looks in relation to your hand. Then, you can use a chart or some math to figure out how far away the tree is based on what you know about the size of your hand and how big the tree looks.

It's kind of like magic! But it's really just a way to estimate distances without needing an expensive rangefinder or a lot of fancy equipment. So next time you're outside and want to know how far away something is, try using stadiametric rangefinding like a pro!
